TLS 1.0 or Lower

BY: ADMIN / 5 COMMENTS / CATEGORY: ATM, ATMS, FINANCE

The PCI Council has pushed back the date for the dead period of TLS 1.0 or lower. The new deadline is June 30, 2018. Your ATM machine can still communicate if it is currently running on TLS 1.0 but you should start considering a solution now so that you are not causing a violation or putting your ATM at risk. To be compliant, PCI is suggesting you upgrade your SSL/TLS to 1.2.

Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a cryptographic protocol used to establish a secure communications channel between two systems.  It is used to authenticate one or both systems, and protect the confidentiality and integrity of information that passes between systems.

In order to fix the problem, you must first determine what type of communication you are using for your ATM machine. Most ATMs are setup with either a cellular router or by using a hardline with a CAT5 cable that directly connects to an existing wireless router. If you do not know, you should call your ATM or internet provider.
